Microdermabrasion in San Antonio

What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is the manual exfoliation to remove the outer layer of skin. This process works best in a series to achieve the best results. This treatment aids in cell turn over which is the most important part of anti aging.

Down Time?

Although this treatment is Non-Invasive you will need to protect your skin with moisturizer and SPF for 48 hours after the treatment is completed. You may experience some mild redness-and slothing or peeling of the skin, this is normal and the excess skin will flake off. However you may return to work immediately, which is why it is okay to have your Microdermabrasion treatment done during lunch.

What type of Microdermabrasion do we use? How often do I Treat?

We use a Diamond tipped wand to abrade the surface of the skin. One treatment of microdermabrasion will not provide instant results. It is always recommended for the best results to have this treatment done in a series of 3 to 6 treatments done every 2 weeks after this treatment phase it is best to treat once monthly for the best maintenance.

What will happen during the Microdermabrasion treatments?

With Microdermabrasion your skin will first be cleaned with a customized cleanser for your unique skin type. Then we will follow up by gliding the microdermabrasion wand over the skin is sections cross hatching at each section. Then we will tone the skin, apply a calming hydrating mask, followed by a line of customized product for your unique skin, finishing up with SPF.

What will Microdermabrasion do for your skin?

After Care

Microdermabrasion After Care

What To Do After Face Microdermabrasion Treatment: First, it's important to remember that any skin resurfacing procedure is somewhat invasive (but so is the regular facial scrub you use at home) and your skin needs some time to recover. The top skin layers have just been removed and your face simply reacts back.

Facial redness after each abrasion is normal (the redness should fade in a few hours) and so is some itchiness and a mild sunburn sensation (which can last up to two days afterwards).

Do these next 4 things to avoid complications and speed up your skin's recovery:

1 Cleanse your face immediately after treatment with a wet cloth and rehydrating toner to remove any dead skin cells left behind. This will be done by your tech.

2 Once the skin has dried completely, apply a rich moisturizer. Use moisturizer for 4-6 days after microdermabrasion to avoid excessive peeling.

3 Don't forget to use sunscreen every time you go out (even if it's an overcast day) because microdermabrasion increases photosensitivity.

4 Avoid staying in the sun for 7 days after microdermabrasion to prevent UV rays from damaging your skin (which slows down the recovery).

Facial redness and itchiness are mainly after-effects. Use moisturizer and high SPF sunscreen which helps to soothe the skin and speed up recovery.

Facial Makeup After Microdermabrasion

Avoid using any type of liquid or powder foundation (or any other type of cover up, for that matter) for the first 2-3 days after microdermabrasion. Eye makeup and lipstick are allowed (any red marks usually fade after a few hours).

What Is Best To Apply On Your Face After Microdermabrasion

Some creams, gels and ointments can help relieve the tenderness or the burning sensation you get after microdermabrasion.

Vitamin A, C and E products increase skin elasticity and help the skin look fresh and toned..

What To Avoid After Microdermabrasion Facials?

Avoid any exfoliation or shaving after facial microdermabrasion or body microdermabrasions.

Avoid at home exfoliation products and glycolic acid-based creams for 3 days after microdermabrasion.

Avoid waxing for at least 2 weeks after microdermabrasion.
